Body-Mind Centering and Dance

The workshop has three parts, experiential anatomy and bodywork, dance technique and Improvisation. We start with bodywork/experiential anatomy. We warm our body and discover new details. Movement sequence guide us thorugh the levels and the space. We get skilled to jump in the air and land soft and secure in and over the floor. Improvisation scores give space for our personal movement explorations and creativity. I am interested how we work with the material in a performative way.

Introduction into Contactimprovisation

What is contact improvisation? dancing together, sharing weight, rolling over each other, being supported, being lifted, flying on the shoulders. This small introduction gives us an insight into the rolling point, the giving and taking of weight, the work with gravity, rolling, sliding over and into the floor. Wir will work also with our own barriers, with saying yes and no, with the art of listening. In this 4 hours I want to give you a little view into the art of contact improvisation

Are you conscious about what your perception of your enviornment? With our nervous system we perceive everything, but we are not aware of it. How does our nervous system works? How do we get the information? How is the information processed? How does a nervous cell look like? In this workhsop we work with the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. Through guided bodywork we find a way to perceive the nervous system and work with it. Out of this experience we find our way to dance. With structured improvisation and movement scores we explore the functioning of the nervous system and use that as impulses for our movement.

17./18.9.2011 Contact meets Contemporary = Dance
I am interested in bringing artistic awareness into the contact dance. How do I /we use space, rhythm, timing together? How do the dancer create a choreographic image in space, a story? How can I use contact tools in contemporary dance practice? How does contact techniques change my dance technique and body awareness.
This workshop is especially for those contact dancers who want to explore the artistic aspects of contact and dance improvisation and dancers who are interested in contact improvisation.

With our body writing, painting and drafting the outer space. Modern contemporary dance and Contact Improvisation teaching us possibilities and vocabulary.
In this project we are interested in the inner and outer world. What interests me in the outer world? How do I want to describe her? Where and how my inner world has place to express itself?
The inspiration taken from the outer landscapes, enriched by our innere landscape, we are merging into the city, arising out of her and changing her in the moment, elusive, rarely noticable, fast, the city left behind, how she was and now is not anymore, how she was.
We are reseraching our inner world with the help of the bodywork and movement technique BodyMind CenteringⓇ (BMC). BMC was developped by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. It is a anatomical and physiological research of the body through sensing, moving and action. We get impulse for our improvisations and it supports the development of our dance vocabulary and technique.
Sibylle Günther and Heike Kuhlmann got to know each other some years ago in workshops and the studio Phynix tanzt. Their different dance experiences brought them into a dancing dialogue and the workexchange. In November 2010 Heike danced in Sibylles piece “Joyful Choices”.

The heart and the rest-
a BMC based movement research
Workshop 26.+27.2.2011
The heart, the big muscle in the inside of your chest. Do you know how it works? How do you connect with your heart? Have you felt how the blood is transported to the cells? What do the cells take in, what do they give away? In this workshop I want to explore the heart, the blood circulation and the lungs. Working with the principles of BodyMind-CenteringÒ we will use anatomical informations and pictures to inform our discovery in bodywork and movement improvisations.

What moves me?
Closing 2010 with Authentic, Bodywork
and Contact Improvisation
For this day I want to invite you in a meditation to go through the year 2010 and then give the body the possibility to express himself with Authentic Movment. After the movement time there is time for Drawing, Writing and sharing. Knowledge in Authentic are an advantage but not necessary. Authentic gives us the possibility to hand over to the body our leadership, so it can show us, what it needs in the moment. Sometime unconsciolus process come into expression or old sotries can be let go in movement. Authentic helps us to become present in the presence, but it is also a possibility to process 2010.
After a short break, we will coddle each other with Bodywork. We get what we need, to regenerate, to free blocked energies, to refresh and renew energiesor just to enjoy.
We will end with a livemusic jam with Pachazonica to celebrate us in the dance and to enlighten this time of the year with our dance.
Costs: The whole afternoon costs 20 €.
