Global Water Dances 2013 – in Berlin!

You can be part of it!

On the 15 th of june we will perform probably near the Berlin Hauptbahnhof the second Global Water Dances, together with a lot of other countries. The Global Water Dances have the objective to treat the subject of water. Water is necessary for life, it should be a human right. But in a lot of countries it is difficult to get even clean drinking water or they have to pay expensive for it. In Berlin we experienced the privatization of the Berlin water.
With this dance performance we use an artistic approach to address this higlhy political issue. Dancing it, we are also researching in our bodies, which are consisting of about 70 % of fluids. Last year the Berlin Team of Global Water Dances researched of the liquid body. This year we want to explore this in a wider scale working in form of the Laban Movement choir. In smaller groups we will prepare the performance. On wednesday mornings I will dedicate the contemporary dance training at PHYNIXtanzt for the preparation of the performance. If you can that is a great opportunity to dive deeply into the issue. If you can´t, there will be some weekends of preparation, which you should be there.
I am interested in working with Contact and Partnering and some acrobatical parts inside of the movement choir, so if you are interested in that. Come!
For the weekly training you just need to pay 7 €, being part of the Global Water Dances Project, for the weekend we will need to charge around 50 € as we didn´t get the funding we applied to. Check out the dates below and give us your word to be part of.

How do I come into flow? How do I access my power? How do i become permeable and lissome? What is my wellfeeling-movement velocity? How can I be fast, without hurrying? How do I get trust into my body intelligence? We will spend time to work with the breath and the reflexes to create confidence in the body for fast and energetic contact dances. Because we enjoy to have fast, energetic, explosive contacts dances, we will use our experiences from our formations in the breathing work and Body-Mind Centering to create a safe and respectful atmosphere in which each person can develop trust to move with speed, flow and ease.

The workshop is open for dancer with experience in Contact Improvisation. Cheap accomodation can be organized.

The Underscore is a framework for practicing and researching dance improvisation that

Nancy Stark Smith has been developing since 1990 based on her work with Contact Improvisation.

It is a long jamming/CI/improvisation score that guides dancers through a series of “changing states”

— from solo relaxation and sensitizing to gravity and support, through group circulation and interaction,

to contact improvisation engagements, then opening out to full group improvisation, and back to rest and reflection.
For the past 11 years, a Global Underscore has been occurring near the summer solstice.

Conceived and organized by French dancer Claire Filmon for 10 years, the Global Underscore Solstice

is an annual event during which dancers at many sites around the world practice the Underscore simultaneously.
We hope you’ll join us in the Berlin Satellite of the Global Underscores on June 23!
Come to Tanzfabrik Berlin, Studio 3.

If you have already done at least one full underscore practice and feel familiar with the structure,

please come at 3pm (no entry after 3.20pm);

if until now you have done similar, maybe underscore inspired jams and practices,

but no complete Underscore or if you don’t know anything about the underscore

and you want to participate,

please come at 13.30 to Tanzfabrik entrance

to join the introduction into the practicalities and the structure of the underscore.

Anleitung zur BMC basierten Körperarbeit

In this three days we take time to relax and refresh our bodies with a long bodywork, to explore the body through a special focus and to bring us into movement. We experiment on different body and movement themes alone, with a partner and in the group.These can be for example the skeleton, falling, rhythm,… We are grounding this on our personal movement history and work with elements of Body-Mind Centering, Contemporary Dance and Contact Improvisation.

Costs: all 3 days: 45,– €, 2 days: 35,– €, 1 day: 20€

From 25.-28.05.2012 there are 50-60 dancers invited to come and join the

Potsdam Contact Jam. From Friday 4pm you can arrive -and dance until

Monday 2pm.

Four days of jamming, taking classes, outdoor score, bodywork, live music,

maybe even swimming…many more possibilities to spend you time

beside of jamming.

Also parents with children are welcome! Get in touch with us for info

about accommodation, activities with kids, etc.

Prize including food and accommodation: 90 € till 04th May, after that

The price includes:

- participation in the whole weekend, including extra classes, warm-ups,

jams, outdoor class score, live music

- food: Vegetarian and tasty

- sleeping possibility In Studios (bring sleeping bag or mat)
If you have kids:

You are welcome to bring your children. We will also have some classes

for kids, for parents and babies during the weekend. A separate studio

will be available for families’ overnight. Pleas let us know if you come

The fabrik area is beautiful here. Also for parents with children very

suitable. Also there is a park with a lake in 10 Min. walking distance!!!
The Jam is part of the Potsdamer Tanztage festival, organized by

fabrikPotsdam so there will be professional performances to watch if you

want! You can also combine the jam with taking some intensive workshops

before the jam (for example with Andrew Harwood and Benno Voorham!!) -

Die Idee der Jam ist es einen Raum zu schaffen, in dem Erwachsene und Kinder zusammen tanzen und spielen können. Bei dieser Jam sind die Kinder sind nicht ein störender Nebenfaktor der Jam, sondern wir richtigen unseren Fokus auf ein gemeinsames Gestalten dieser Jam. Was passiert zwischen den Kindern? Was zwischen Kindern und Erwachsenen? Was zwischen den Erwachsenen?

Erwachsene ohne Kinder, die Lust auf eine Familienjam haben, sind herzlich willkommen.

The idea is to create a space where we, adults and kids can dance and play together. In this jam kids are not a disruptive sideeeffect, but wir direct our focus to frame this jam together. What happens between the kids? What between kids and adults? What between the adults?

Adults without kids are mostly welcome.

Das weltweite Tanzevent „Global Water Dances“ feiert am 25. Juni 2011 auf allen fünf Kontinenten gleichzeitig Premiere. Die Berliner Performance findet mit 100 Tänzern an der Spree rund um den Hauptbahnhof statt.

Global Water Dances ist eine Tanz-Performance, die in 55 Städten auf allen fünf Kontinenten gleichzeitig stattfindet. Eine Kunstinitiative und eine politische Aktion zugleich, um auf die (Trink)Wasserproblematik aufmerksam zu machen.

Aus diesem Anlass werden ca 6.000 tanzinteressierte Personen aller Altersstufen unter Anleitung von professionellen Choreographen am Wasser tanzen – an Flüssen, Seen, Quellen und Küsten rund um den Globus.

In Berlin findet die Performance auf einem Areal an der Spree in der Nähe des Hauptbahnhofs statt. An drei verschiedenen Standorten starten jeweils um 17 Uhr mehr als 30 Personen unter Anleitung zahlreicher Choreographen und dem Komponisten Henry Mex und tanzen zum Washingtonplatz; zum Höhepunkt und Abschluss der Performance.
